South African Weather
South Africa has some of the nicest weather in the world. The country enjoys a temperate climate. Most of the rainfall is in the summer months except for the Western Cape which has a winter rainfall and a more Mediterranean climate.
Gauteng is on the Highveld and can be very dry for those used to a more humid/tropical environment. The summers are warm to hot with afternoon thundershowers. The winters are dry with cold nights and early mornings and dry sparkling days.
General temperatures in Gauteng:
Summer high: 27 - 34◦c
Summer low: 15 - 20◦c
Winter high: 15 - 23◦c
Winter low: 0 - 7◦c
Johannesburg is almost 2000 meters above sea level and is therefore one of the world’s highest cities with regards to altitude. Some visitors experience mild fatigue and breathlessness as a result.
